Track practice will start Tuesday, March 19th. Practices will run Monday-Thursday from 2:15-4:30 pm. Athletes may stay after school and attend SAFE. Athletes must have a completed physical turned in and have all documents on Register My Athlete (Aktivate) completed in order to stay for the first practice.

RCMS Parents and Guardians, please be aware that students reported another student made a threat of bringing a firearm tomorrow. We were notified after school released. We immediately contacted NCSO School Resource Officer, and he took immediate action. There is no threat to the school tomorrow. Your students and their safety is our highest priority. Thank you to the students who reported.
Please tell your students to always report anything suspicious. We will always take every report with the utmost seriousness.

This afternoon, an RCMS bus transporting students from the after-school program (SAFE) was involved in a bus versus motorcycle accident.
Only five students were on the bus, none were injured, and all were transported home via district van.
The NCSD driver was not at fault and was not cited.
The motorcyclist did not appear to have life-threatening injuries but was transported to Las Vegas for care. He was cited.

We have an internet outage for all of Pahrump and Amargosa. We are working with VEA and NSHE to solve the problem.
This also affects our phones systems. At this time, schools cannot receive calls or call out using the school phones.
Teaching and learning is still happening. There are no emergencies.
We just wanted you to know why no one is answering any phones.

Item 13 is a closed session for the discussion of collective bargaining. The live stream and webinar are both turned off during closed session. Downloading the NCSD app and subscribing to updates at the district level should allow you to receive a notification on your phone when we return from closed session. Information about receiving notifications is on the website noted above.
The selection of a new Superintendent is item 18 on this agenda.
The stay-put drill has been lifted.
Further communication about this event will come from RCMS to their families.
All students are safe.
RCMS has implemented a STAY PUT emergency procedure. During practice drills, your student learned this means any outside activities are moved inside and no students or staff are allowed outside the building. All exterior doors are locked. No one is allowed to enter the building except for response personnel. Classroom instruction continues with limited hallway traffic. Please monitor the Nye County School District Website or Facebook page for additional information as it becomes available.

Weather Related School Closure Update
All Nye County Schools in Pahrump, Amargosa, Beatty, Tonopah, and Gabbs will reopen tomorrow as planned.
Please be cautious when walking to bus stops and schools.
Round Mountain Schools will remain closed due to road conditions. The reopening of Round Mountain Schools will be assessed daily, and notifications will be sent to the community members in the later afternoon.
