Parents and Guardians,
You are receiving invitations through email and text from Apptegy for a new communication service called Rooms.
Please accept the invitation even if your school is not yet using Rooms. Every school has a published classroom with a bit more information, so once you are set up, you can see what it looks like. PVHS, RCMS, Pathways, Beatty, Amargosa, Round Mountain, and Gabbs have all started to use Rooms with their teachers. We'll be expanding to more schools next year.
The service works through the NCSD App, and once you are signed up, you will automatically be connected to your school and students' teachers each year. It's a one-time registration.
Please view our information page if you have questions: https://www.nye.k12.nv.us/page/rooms-support

Please note that Thursday, January 9th, IS a school day for all NCSD students.
While President Biden has declared a National Day of Mourning to honor former President Jimmy Carter, this declaration primarily affects federal employees.
Nevada public schools, including all those in Nye County, will remain in session.
We understand that this may cause confusion, and we appreciate your understanding.
Sincerely,
Dr. Joe Gent
Superintendent

As part of his executive order, Biden declared that "all executive departments and agencies of the Federal Government shall be closed on January 9, 2025, as a mark of respect for James Earl Carter, Jr.” Only for federal employees,

Factory Home Center donated the money to RCMS to update their window film outside the main office area. To show our gratitude we had a banner made in their honor and will displace it in our main gym. Thank you again Gerald Schulte for you support at RCMS.

VEA arrived on site quickly and restored power.
Thank you.
Everyone,
The Transportation Department is beginning to roll out the new bus tracking system, StopFinder. It isn't fully operational yet, but emails did go out to all primany student contacts as listed in Infinite Campus for creating accounts.
Thank you.
Parents, Guardians, and Community members,
A bus was in an accident in Pahrump on 160 near the Pour House. No students were on board. An alternate bus was sent to cover the route. We do not expect any alterations to bus drop off times. The driver was not injured.
